As usual a fabulous sunny day allowed 16 hardy Social Climbers to wander up the Pelorus Valley and walk the 10 Kms up to the Emerald Pools and back. The track follows the lovely Pelorus river in dense beech forest with wonderful birdsong along the way.
Rebecca was our organiser and guide and plant specialist. The river had a bit of a fresh as a result of overnight rain and the creeks crossings were a little slippery. We all returned home safely although not without a sprained ankle and a wee impromptu "baptism" in the creek!
The icecream and coffee at the Peolrus Cafe was very welcome before we headed back to Nelson. A very successful day out in our wonderful local nature reserves - thank you Rebecca for organising and the effort in advance scoping out of the walk to ensure correct grading and safety for all.
